Amie Leighton

I began my career in New England, growing up in Maine and attending architecture school in Rhode Island. After a short return to Maine after college, I made the move to Philadelphia where I have been learning and crafting my talents as an architect for over 20 years. During that time, I married, had three busy children, and worked in a Center City firm for over 21 years. While there, I designed and managed projects of many different types and sizes, primarily for education and religious clients. As my experience evolved, I discovered that while I certainly appreciate inspiring architectural design, my real passion is in studying how people use the space crafted for them.

I have come to believe that while a successful building project is often attributed to quality design and construction, true greatness is measured by how well it meets the needs and desires of the inhabitants. This is true moving into new space and continues as an organization evolves and grows into its surroundings.

I believe people matter and managing how users interact with the physical space around them needs to be a priority to maintain a healthy and productive workplace.

While my design sensibilities, problem solving skills and technical abilities have certainly been honed through an architectural education and career, my current work has diverged from the traditional architectural practice.  My future is in helping clients understand how their existing spaces are used in order to maximize use, improve efficiency, enhance quality and plan for growth.
