BRYN ATHYN CHURCH SCHOOL AND SOCIETY BUILDING

The Bryn Athyn Church School is a K-8 community school which also houses the Church Pastor’s Offices and many of the Society’s social functions. It has been a well loved and respected part of the Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania community for over 70 years. The original 1950’s era school building was expanded 5 times, with the most recent addition being approximately 30 years old. Over the last decade, the facility has started to show it’s age and, unsurprisingly, will require significant repair and updated building systems to continue serving Bryn Athyn families into the future. Understanding that they were facing a significant project, Administrators and Church leadership partnered with Space Strategies to lead the Building Committee through a responsible planning process. We facilitated the preparation of an Existing Conditions and Needs Assessment Study, outlined the anticipated project scope, and assisted in the search for a design partner.

With strong community support, the initial planning phase was completed and the team has begun the design process with architects, engineers, and Space Strategies continuing in an Owner’s Representative/Advisory role. This partnership relieves school and church leadership of many project management tasks as well as provides a knowledgeable resource to ensure that the project continues to reflect the community’s needs and values.
